Contemporary Art : Gambiered Silk
Gambiered silk is a special naturally dyed fabrics made in south of China. It is also known as Guangdong silk or mud silk. It is a traditional cloth with two-tone colours. Its coating technique has been included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The fabrics is repeatedly soaked in juice of dye yams for its tannin then coated with iron rich mud from local riverbed and dried out in the sun.
